Notes from 9/15 Council Meetings: The Public Speaks

These are Mike Katz-Lacabe‘s tweets from the City Council 9/15/14 meeting.  Since the Council eliminated minutes, the only written record of what happens are Council meetings are Mike’s tweets.  The Sept. 15th meeting featured two sets of public speakers, one speaking for paying ACI workers a living wage and another against the militarization of the SLPD and the purchase of the armored personnel carrier. Notes from Town Hall meeting on Transportation & Housing

The following are the tweets sent by Mike Katz-Lacabe from the Transportation & Housing that took place on 9/22/14 at main library. Keith Cooke: San Leandro is currently building a network of Class 2 and 3 bike paths. Limited by funding & because city is older. First meetings for San Leandro’s General Plan update: Oct. 23 at Sr. Comm. Center & Oct. 28 at Marina Comm. Center sanleandro2035.org San Leandro spent $15 million on streets in past 5 years. The San Leandro City Council eliminated full minutes of Council meetings several years ago.  To make up for this, and keep San Leandrans informed of what their Council is up to, Mike Katz-Lacabe tweets from the meetings. Council Meeting on Marina Development & Police Expansion

These are Mike Katz-Lacabe notes/tweets on the July 28th San Leandro City Council meeting on the Marina/Shoreline development and expansion of the San Leandro Police Department headquarters. These notes are provided because the Council no longer produces minutes of its meetings. Once again, Mike Katz-Lacabe and Mia Ousley were the only two City Council candidates present at the meeting. The July 23rd Council meeting went extremely long. Mike had gone to speak in favor of a strong privacy policy for surveillance data, and didn’t get to do so until nearly 11.
